Welcome to deltabravocharlie.com. Here is where I share my thoughts on 2nd Amendment issues and the other enthusiasms that fill my days.

You've Been Promoted!

You've Been Promoted!

You’ve been promoted! From peaceable citizen to violent racist, that is.

You see, if you’ve listened to Jason Aldean’s “Try That In A Small Town”…the first-ever violent song ever published in America…you have listened to a song that promotes violence and you will now be transformed from a peaceful citizen going about your life to a bloodthirsty thug.

Music which “promotes violence” has that effect, you know…

“Cut a bone out his skin, fish filet him when I see him”

“B*tch why you lyin’, b*tch you’ve been cheatin’ / Now I gotsta to give your motherf*ckin’ ass a beatin / I punched her in the ribcage and kicked her in the stomach”

“She begged me not to kill her, I gave her a rose/Then slit her throat, and watched her shake till her eyes closed”

“Cuss out a cop, spit in his face/Stomp on the flag and light it up/Yeah, ya think you're tough /Well, try that in a small town”

See what I mean? See how violent Jason Aldean’s song is compared to those others? But seriously, a few of points…

  • Violence in country music isn’t a new thing. Google “country murder ballads.”

  • If you see racism in this song, you’re the racist, since race is never mentioned. You are assuming the people Aldean is warning in his lyrics belong to a certain race.

  • If violent lyrics in music “promote” violence, we’ve got lots bigger problems than this particular track.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: I am no fan of Jason Aldean’s. At the very least, he is ignorant of and indifferent to the protections provided by the 2nd Amendment, as he has spoken out in favor of stricter background checks and tighter controls on gun purchases.

If you’re a friend of the 2A, he’s no friend of yours.
