So It Begins

The acquittal of President Trump on charges of abuse of power and obstruction in the Senate impeachment trial is not an ending, but a beginning. While it is tempting to view Speaker Pelosi ripping up her copy of the State of the Union address as the tantrum of a defeated child, I fear it is a sign of an even greater danger to come. Rather than signifying ultimate loss, her gesture may well signal a political left which now feels it has nothing left to lose.

While it may seem that the left has been waging all-out war since the 2016 election, we are about to discover they’ve actually been on their best behavior. Until now. The shredding of President Trump’s speech is their way of telling us that they are no longer going to be restrained by “party manners”. They are telling us that IT. IS. ON.

Every “credulous boomer rube,” every “deplorable,” and every “bitter clinger” needs to understand that if you thought they hated you before, you ain’t seen nothing yet. If you think their desire to bring you peasants to heel has been curbed…

Let the rubes govern themselves? ROFLMAO!!!

When I was being trained in small-unit infantry tactics, one of the types of patrols we practiced was the raid, a quick offensive assault on an objective. Once we had kicked the enemy off of the objective, what do you think we did? Stand down? Clap each other on the back and call it a job well done? No. Once the objective was taken, the very next thing we did was secure the perimeter and prepare for a counterattack. After all, when do you suppose the best time for a counterattack would be? Right away, or after your opponent has had time to organize, entrench, and prepare for you? You know the answer.

On the objective, you consolidate and prepare for counterattack.

Consider this: the Democrats knew they were going to lose in the Senate. Long before they ever voted on the articles of impeachment in the House of Representatives, they knew they would lose this particular fight. Do you think they haven’t thought about that? Do you think they planned to lose and then just throw up their hands? Do you think they don’t have a plan…a well-developed plan…to counterattack after this loss? Dismiss them as stupid at your own peril. They are prepared to fight on, and they are committed.

We need to be the same. Be prepared for an assault on your liberty, and be committed to its defense. Just like after our ranger raids, it is time to establish security, treat the wounded, and redistribute ammunition. Expect a fight. I guarantee you it is coming, and we are likely to discover that they were actually playing nice up until now. Keep your head on a swivel, and be ready to ride out and meet them.
